Case Study with Total Rewards PDX

From Member Requests to Custom AI Coaches

How Total Rewards PDX Delivered Their Highest-Engagement Event

Challenge

Members of Total Rewards PDX, the Portland chapter of World at Work, repeatedly requested practical AI training for their daily work, eager to learn actual skills they could apply Monday morning. HR and total rewards professionals needed hands-on training that addressed their specific workflows across compensation, benefits, and talent development while respecting sensitive data protocols. Even board members wanted to participate, signaling urgent demand across the organization.

Solution Approach

Gravi AI delivered a hands-on workshop teaching participants to build custom AI coaches using a transferable 5-element framework. The training was platform-agnostic (working across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini), privacy-focused, and designed for immediate workplace application. Participants created actual AI assistants during the session tailored to their specific roles (not just watched demonstrations).

Implementation Process

Julie Scotland and Tara Armbruster guided participants through iterative 2-minute writing exercises, building system instructions step by step. Board members participated alongside regular members. Participants, who started at level 2 (AI awareness) or early level 3 (basic ChatGPT/Claude/etc. use), built working AI coaches for compensation analysis, talent development scenarios, and employee communications. The compliance-conscious approach emphasized corporate policy alignment and data governance.

Results Impact

  • Highest Engagement Event: Achieved Total Rewards PDX's highest engagement of 2025, with exceptional participation and unsolicited member follow-up.

  • 10/10 Satisfaction Scores: Survey respondents rated the training at maximum satisfaction, with members proactively writing in to share positive feedback.

  • Advanced Skill Progression: Participants moved from basic AI awareness to building and customizing their own AI assistants during the session.

  • Professional Reinvigoration: Board member cited the training as "reinvigorating" to her role, noting the exceptional reception and enthusiasm it generated.

"Julie and Tara did an excellent job breaking down a complex topic into actionable, bite-sized steps in an easy-to-follow workflow to build an AI assistant. I received the most useful prompting training to-date from Gravi AI and would definitely recommend their trainings to others!"

Olivia Steelman, TRPDX Board Member

“This training reinvigorated me in my role - it really opens up a lot of possibilities. It was incredibly well received by both the board and participants, with members writing in to thank us for hosting it. We’re already exploring opportunities to collaborate with Gravi AI again.”

Jill Freeman, TRPDX Board Member
